Philip Michael's profile

Mountaineers Third Baseman Returning for 2021 Season

Philip E. Michael is a Charleston, West Virginia-based pharmacist with nearly three decades of experience. Before pursuing a career as a pharmacist, Philip Michael obtained a bachelor's degree in biology from West Virginia University (WVU). He was a member of the Mountaineer Marching Band and remains a fan of the school's athletic teams.

The WVU Mountaineers baseball team will keep a key player for the 2021 season as senior third baseman Kevin Brophy recently announced his intention to play a fifth season with the team. Brophy, who had been considering his professional options, is allowed to play another season due to the NCAA's player eligibility ruling after the 2020 season was cut short.

A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Brophy had one home run, eight runs batted in (RBIs), and a .246 batting average through 16 games in the shortened 2020 season. He had a career-best nine home runs and 35 RBIs during his junior campaign in 2019. Through his four-year career at WVU, Brophy had 16 home runs, 61 RBIs, and a .227 batting average.
